One of the best things about summer in Chicago is the music. Every week, a music festival or outdoor concert series is happening somewhere in the Greater Chicago area, giving music fans plenty to look forward to.

Rockin' in the Park 2024 - 5501 Park Pl, Rosemont, IL 60018
Taking place on select Thursday and Friday evenings from May through August, the Rockin' in the Park Free Summer Concert Series offers multiple opportunities to catch some live music in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont. These free outdoor concerts are held at Parkway Bank Park. The shows typically feature energetic cover bands, and Thursday shows are followed by fireworks displays. Upcoming dates include August 15, 22 and 29, with the final concert of the season happening on the 30th.
Riot Fest 2024 - 7000 S Harlem Ave, Bridgeview, IL 60455
Easily one of the most beloved and hotly-anticipated rock festivals in the Chicago area, Riot Fest returns this year on September 20, 21 and 22. Riot Fest 2024 has a killer lineup featuring Beck, Slayer, Fall Out Boy, and dozens of other great bands. This is the 19th iteration of the festival, which is held at SeatGeek Stadium, a great place to catch a show in Bridgeview. One-day, two-day and three-day tickets are available.
Jazzin' at the Shedd - 1200 S DuSable Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, IL 60605
Jazz fans will certainly want to keep an eye on the calendar at the Shedd Aquarium, which hosts its weekly Jazzin' at the Shedd music series on Wednesdays throughout the summer months. The series features a rotating selection of world-class jazz groups on the aquarium's scenic lakeside terrace, with multiple acts performed each night. Food and drinks will be available and first-come, first-served seating is $20 for Chicago residents ($40 for non-residents). Stick around after each show to watch the spectacular weekly Navy Pier fireworks!
Chicago Summerdance - 112 E Balbo Dr, Chicago, IL 60605
Chicago Summerdance is a series of events that combine dance, free movement and music at multiple locations across Chicago throughout the summer. Each of these free outdoor events starts with dance and movement lessons with professional instructors, which is followed by music and social dancing. It's fun and accessible for all ages and experience levels. The area of Grant Park near the corner of Balbo Dr. and Michigan Ave. and in the heart of South Loop is one of the most consistent venues for the series and will host Summerdance events on August 15, 16, and 17 from 6 to 9 pm.
Grant Park Music Festival - 201 E Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60601
A classical music concert series that spans ten weeks every summer, the Grant Park Music Festival has been a Chicago tradition since the 1930s. It's one of only a handful of free classical concert series across the US. The series features the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra and Grant Park Chorus, along with different guest performers and conductors at each event. The 2024 series includes Fascinating Rhythm: Gershwin and Friends on August 14 and Mahler Symphony No. 8 on August 16 and 17 at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion.
