Every year, Wrigleyville — the lively neighborhood surrounding Wrigley Field — transforms into a holiday-themed destination during Wrigleyville Wonderland. From holiday-themed food and drink to actors dressed up in festive costumes, there's a lot to take in during the festival, with numerous local businesses getting in on the festivities. Best of all, your chance to enjoy it doesn't end with the new year. This season's Wrigleyville Wonderland continues daily through January 31.
Chicago Winter Whiskey Tasting Festival - 600 N State St, Chicago, IL 60654
On January 25, whiskey fans from all over Chicagoland will unite to take part in the Chicago Winter Whiskey Tasting Festival. Highlights include opportunities to meet and greet expert whiskey makers, learn more about the process and history behind your favorite spirit, and, of course, sample a wide variety of craft whiskeys from around the world. The festival will be held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Downtown Chicago's River North area.
Evanston Lunar New Year Celebration - 604 Dempster St, Evanston, IL 60202
Celebrate the lunar new year on January 26 at the Evanston Lunar New Year Celebration. Starting at 12 p.m., the celebration will include a wide variety of performances and activities, all completely free to the public, that continue until 3:30 p.m. It takes place on the 600 block in Evanston, a small but vibrant city on the North Shore of Lake Michigan that is considered a suburb of Chicago.
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [Abridged] - 1723 Glenview Rd, Glenview, IL 60025
Fans of comedy and classic literature will get a kick out of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [Abridged]. Performed live on stage, this comedic romp through the bard's works will be at the Oil Lamp Theater in Glenview for a limited number of performances between January 24 and February 16. Expect plenty of laughs as skilled actors race through a condensed version of Shakespeare's plays at lightning speed.
Polar Adventure Days at Northerly Island - 1521 S Linn White Dr, Chicago, IL 60605
Part of Chicago's Night Out in the Parks initiative, Polar Adventure Days is a chance to enjoy the city's public parks in winter and get kids interested in the outdoors. Featuring a meet-and-greet with a real team of sled dogs, Polar Adventure Days takes place on January 25 at Northerly Island, just east of Downtown Chicago's South Loop. A second date is scheduled for February 22 at Big Marsh Park.
